A New Zealand "vision"

The Royal School of Church Music is a world-wide network of 9,000 churches, schools, choirs, clergy, music leaders, organists, choristers, instrumentalists and individuals offering benefits to over 2 billion adherents.

They are committed to achieving the best use of good music in worship - whatever the resources, whatever the styles.

Through education, training, publications, advice and encouragement, we aim to support church music today and to invest in church music for the future.

RSCM NZ
along with

UK,       Australia,       Europe
North America,       South Africa

is made up of Church, School, Choir and Individual Members volunteering their time and energy to foster these objectives and enjoy the fellowship that stems from activities.

We communicate amongst ourselves and with the wider community using the full range from old fashioned face-to-face meetings to today's sophisticated internet circuits, etc. Governance of the Society can therefore be carried on very efficiently by Office-bearers from diverse locations.

RSCM NZ operates nation-wide (supported by a "National Office") under a Council of Representatives drawn from five branches, Auckland (Auckland City is the main centre), Waikato (Hamilton), Wellington (Wellington City), Canterbury (Christchurch City), and Otago & Southland (Dunedin City - the Registered Office is located at Dunedin's Knox College).

The 'Hub' of RSCM is located Wiltshire, England, at

19 The Close
near
Salisbury Cathedral

where a small number of staff (aided by those operating to a certain extent from their home locations) provide support for the vast and far-flung teams of volunteers.

In the Close, Sarum College has facilities available for RSCM events and activities.

Our membership and influence is blessed with support from clergy, musicians and friends who lead in their local community as well as nationally and internationally.

We trust you enjoy your visits.

This site contains what the RSCM stands for, and New Zealand's perspectives and activities.

Also aspects of the organisation's history, information for members, friends and visitors, news, notices, events (past, current and future), and articles, both official and from contributors.

Some material is for permanent reference (e.g: About RSCM - a history). Some will be constantly changing; reflecting on-going activities and leading personalities.

Please revisit from time to time for regular updates and new items of interest.

Details about these can be found by clicking on the Menu buttons especially on the following 'pages': "Branch/notice/index" (for National, Auckland, Waikato, Wellington, Canterbury, Otago & Southland news and events) "Summer school (year)", "Winter school (year)", "Articles", "Education" and "Join/renew" (how to become a member or renew annually), etc.

The RSCM is an educational organisation and the website sometimes includes guidlines for computer operation in the body of the pages as well as mostly on the "Footnotes" page: refer back to the foot of the Coverpage . It is hoped experienced operators will be happy to skip such words that appear here and there and that those who are in the early learning phases will be suitably assisted.

You are welcome to communicate with us at any time. Refer to "NZ contacts" in the menu for comprehensive address details.
